11th July - 8th August
A little later than planned, but July turned out to be as busy as suspected, and there is plenty to recap…
Record fares have been consistent, a few slower weekend during the Manchester heatwave have pushed me to look for other alternatives to Campfield market, leading me back to the wonderful rummage in the range. August 1st was almost a record breaking day, partnered up along side Rob from Neuen vintage. It is always a pleasure doing markets with Rob, not only did he help me get into the industry, he supplies wonderful rare records, particularly of a Japanese origin, which offers a great extra crate for the music heads that come to visit our stall. What I like most about working with Rob is his other items, bags full of interesting rare books, limited edition magazines, modern antique utensils, and underground designer vintage apparel. All this combined with my records makes for a beautiful looking setup, and a wide range of options for potential customers. His store is based in Afflecks palace, and is open all week round. My online store has grown and started to move records all across England. Whilst it hasn’t taken off as fastly as I would have liked it too, it has been an important step in the growth of the business, and can only grow bigger. A few sales during the week are always nice too! Exciting times ahead.
Predominantly my focus has been on the Big Nature collective and Lost Wax event in Manchester on the 25th of July and Gullivers in the Northern Quarter. So happy to say it was a big success. With Pole and Stan Fara, we played nothing but original music for around an hour to a solid crowd betwenn 30-40. So happy to see some familiar faces make the effort to come and support, but also new faces, people that had seen online promotion or word of mouth that decided to take a punt, and ended up having a great night. We had two wonderful lads based in Leicester that came through, who now regard themselves as fans, and have vowed to follow us wherever we perform next. We took photos with them which I would love to get back, so if either of you two are reading this please get in touch. Had a great night out with a bunch of people that came through, made some great contacts, all leading to hopefully some great opportunities down the line. It feels like its full steam ahead with the album I am producing for PAB MC, with hopefully the final studio session in London tomorrow. There are plans for shows in Manchester, Bristol and London over the next few months, so if you are based in that area please do show your face. I imagine that will be the next live show but you never know what might show up, I will update here if so.
Had some great days working at Greenhouse bookshop in Stockport this month selling books and records, and have another week or so of work lined up there in the coming days, so again if your local, pop in.
Thanks to everyone that has helped and contributed to my life this month, hoping for another successful one coming up.
Jules.
